Gift Aid Reviews
We can help organise your Gift Aid.
What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a UK government scheme that allows charities to reclaim tax on donations made by UK taxpayers. Donations made to your charity are normally made after the donor has paid tax – with Gift Aid you can reclaim that tax.
Gift Aid has a highly positive impact for charities. Reclaiming Gift Aid can significantly boost funding. For example, if a donor donates £80 to your charity, that's normally because they received £100 and paid £20 of tax on it. With the Gift Aid scheme, your charity can receive that £20 of tax back from HMRC. This comes at no cost to the donor or the charity.

How it works
-
Initial consultation
We will start with an initial consultation, where we take the time to understand the unique needs of your charity or private school. During this session, we gather information about your bookkeeping processes, donor tracking methods, and challenges you face.
-
Data collection
We meticulously collect and organise data from your records of donations and fundraising events. This includes details of all past and present donor interactions, donation amounts, and the frequency of contributions.
-
Report and recommendations
We will then compile a final report, which we will provide to you, where it will outline any identified opportunities and next steps.
-
Claim Submission
Alongside our Gift Aid reviews we can also provide assistance with submitting claims to HMRC if required.
A Word of Warning
Gift Aid is only to be claimed on donations. A donation is a freely given gift, which does not include any benefits for the donor. There are strict rules in place about what does and does not qualify as a donation, and you are advised to refer to detailed HMRC Guidance.
DonorChase does not endorse sending statements or invoices for donations, or pressurising donors to make donations. Use of the software is intended to help remind donors of pledges and to track standing orders.
